Emma's changes throughout this book are very interesting. It's such an odd roller coaster flow. She matures so much each time she realizes she did something wrong. It's just too bad that she regresses afterwords sometimes, mainly through the encouragement of Frank Churchill (thank goodness she realized that she doesn't like him, though I don't like how she's planning to set Harriet up with him now. Did you learn nothing the first time, Emma?). The end of chapter seven was when Knightley reproaches Emma for making fun of Miss Bates, and I must admit that I did feel sorry for her. What she said was wrong, but she didn't realize it with Frank egging her on, so it was a complete slap in the face for Knightley to confront her. I've been in similar situations; I would have been crying the whole way home, too. I'm glad that she made amends with Miss Bates though.
Speaking of Miss Bates, I think she might be my favorite minor character. I still can't get enough of her ramblings.
I wish people still played that game they did with the letters (and oh, that was so bold of Frank to give Jane the word "Dixon").
Eighty-eight pages, that's all I have left!
Ahh, Miss Bates. Don't we all have a few Miss Bates in our lives And been tempted to snap at them? Almost done, keep on going!=)
