Emma: Volume I, Chapters 14-18

Well, I am officially past the point where I gave up six years ago. That feels kind of good.

I don't really have much to say about the end of Volume I except that I remember Mr. Elton's confession to Emma being much more exciting. It was kind of anticlimactic. Oh, well. Also, it's nice to see Emma feeling some remorse.

I can't remember what happens when Frank Churchill. Does he end up with Jane Fairfax? No, never mind, don't tell me.

"...said Mr. Knightley, with a degree of vexation, which made Emma immediately talk of something else, though she could not comprehend why he should be angry." It's because he likes you, Emma.

Thankfully this book has become less of a chore and torment to read. Now all I have to do is pick up the pace.

  1. i just love the banter of Emma and Knightly, they're close friends but she's so saucy around him and says whats she feels. I feel like that annoys and amuses him lol

  2. Ginny-- I like Emma and Knightley's conversations too. It's funny to see her dish his arguments right back at him. Saucy indeed! haha

    KatySue-- Thanks!
